Robert Stagmaier had a goal and an assist to lead Baylor to a 3-0 shutout win against visiting Pope John Paul I Thursday in a D-II East-Middle Region soccer match .
Stagmaier scored off a cross from Austin Rehm in the 25th minute for a 1-0 lead at halftime.
The Red Raiders made it 2-0 as Aaron Railton scored off a pass from Stagmaier in the 47th minute and Christian Wright closed out the scoring in the 63rd minute off a corner kick from Alex Tyler.
"I thought we were very impatient in the first half," Baylor head coach Curtis Blair said. "We settled down in the second half and started to possess the ball better. Any time that you can win a region match, is always good."
Baylor out shot the visitors 5-2.
Baylor's Colin Brewer had two saves in goal as did JPII's Kyle Sanginario.
