World War II Veteran Was An Elks Club Member For Over 64 Years

Carroll E. Holland, 97 of Chattanooga, died on Saturday, April 12, 2014.

He was the son of the late John D .Holland, Sr.  and Media Caldonia Willes Holland.  Carroll served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WW II.  He started his working career with Davenport Hoisery Mill, then working with Pruett’s Food Town and Quality Buy in Tunnel Hill. Carroll was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #610 and a lifetime member of the Elks Club, serving for over 64 years. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Edwards Holland; son, Ronald Edward Holland; brother, John D. Holland, and sister, Margaret Holland Stephens. 

Survivors include his daughter, Carol (Bruce) Tripp; granddaughters, Katie Marie and Rebecca Elizabeth Holland, both of Pikeville; brother, James T. Holland of Spring Hill, Fl.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 16, at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, with Father David Carter officiating.  Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, 4411 Oakwood Drive, Chattanooga, Tn. 37416.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, and a Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Road.
