Jordan, Edward Ray (Dayton)

Edward Ray Jordan, 75, of Dayton, TN, died on Tuesday afternoon, April 15, 2014 in Dayton. 

He was born April 25, 1938 in Chattanooga to the late James and Frances (Tucker) Reno; and was also preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Carolyn (Horne) Jordan; and his brother, Charles L. Jordan.

A resident of Chattanooga, Ed moved to Dayton in 1952. He was employed as a boilermaker at ABB Combustion Engineering. After retirement, Ed was employed at Vanderwall Funeral Home. He had a membership in Rhea County Amateur Radio Society, TN Valley Baptist Association and a Home Land Security Officer. Ed served his country in the US Air Force for 8 years active duty and 21 years in the TN Army National Guard. He was a member of Dayton First Baptist Church where he served as Trustee, Deacon, President of Sonshiners Club and various committees.

Ed is survived by his wife, Betty (Holland) Jordan of Dayton; his sons, Robert Jordan of Dayton and Patrick (Lynette) Jordan of Chattanooga; and grandson, Robert (Alex) Phillips of Dayton.

Funeral services for Ed will be held Friday, April 18 at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Milton Knox officiating. He will be laid to rest with military honors in Rhea Memory Gardens.

The family is being served by Vanderwall Funeral Home where they will be receiving friends Thursday, April 17 from 4-8 p.m.
