Elsie Mae Allen, 90, of Decatur, TN, passed away on Thursday night, April 17, 2014 in the Life Care Center of Athens.
She was born in Telico Plains, TN on March 28th, 1924 to the late George and Nora Roberts. Elsie was of the Baptist faith and member of the Shiloh Baptist Church in Decatur, TN. She loved to sew and over the years had made and altered garments for many people in the area. Elsie above all loved her children and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth W. Allen; the father of her children, Ike John White; and four sons, James White, Harold White, Jerry White and Garland White.
She is survived by one daughter, Laura Blevins and her husband Tommy; five sons, Gary White and wife Cherrie, Junior White, Terry White and wife Dale, Ted White and Bob White and wife Cathy; two sisters, Ruby Baker and Gertrude Darnes; two brothers, Roy Roberts and Genis Roberts; several grandchildren and their spouses; numerous great-grandchildren; and a host of other extended family members.
A celebration of her life is planned for Monday, April 21 at 6 p.m. at the Shiloh Baptist Church located at 1654 Shiloh Road in Decatur, TN with the Reverend Mike King officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Roger Carpenter, David Allen, John Grissom, Dan Elder, Lonnie Elder and Richard Dickeson serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the church on Monday, April 21 from 4-6 p.m.
