Renee Card Monroe
A prominent Catoosa County woman, Renee Card Monroe, and her two grandchildren were killed in an ATV accident on Monday when their ATV toppled into a pond.
Ms. Monroe and her grandchildren went on a ride on the family's property on London Lane before noon. When they did not return, the family went to look for them, and found the vehicle in a pond. It appeared Ms. Monroe lost control of the vehicle.
CPR was performed on the victims, but they were pronounced dead at the hospital.
The children, Reagan Cohen, 3, and Jaxson Cohen, 18 months, were visiting from New York.
Mrs. Monroe was the wife of Charles Monroe, chairman of the Card Monroe Company.
Mr. Monroe is the chairman of the annual Prayer Breakfast in Chattanooga.
The Monroes attend Eastwood Church in Ooltewah.
The Monroe home is just over the Hamilton County line near East Brainerd and Apison.
There will be a prayer service at Eastwood Church on Tuesday. Officials said, "Eastwood has been overwhelmed today with your love and support for the Monroe family. We thank you for loving each other so well during difficult times. We plan to come together Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m. for a special prayer time in the church sanctuary. All are welcome to join us."
