Sutton Knocks In Winning Run As Ooltewah Softball Wins In 9th Over Walker Valley

Freshman Shelby Sutton knocked in the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning to lead Ooltewah past Walker Valley, 6-5, in a District 5AAA softball contest on Monday.

Cameron Baltimore went all the way for the Lady Owls to pick up her 12th victory of the season against four losses. Alicia Raymond pitched all nine innings for Walker Valley.

Rachel Percy homered for Walker Valley, and Ooltewah's Allie Jones countered with her sixth blast of the year. 

The Sutton hit came after fellow freshman Aubie Collake singled and Elizabeth Novelli bunted her over.

Ashunti Cooper was 2-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

Ooltewah improves to 25-7, 7-3.

Mahle Leads Choo-Choo By One Shot

Matt Mahle, a sophomore at the College of Charleston, shot a 7-under 65 on Monday and took the lead in the Choo-Choo Invitational at Council Fire. Mahle, who hit 15 greens in regulation, leads defending champion Ben Wolcott by one shot. Brandon Rogers shot 67 and is two shots ahead of Davin White and former Chattanoogan Nick Blakely.
