Maudie Marie Layne, 90, of Ringgold, Georgia, died on Tuesday, April 22, 2014.

Mrs. Layne was born and raised in Buladean, N.C. She was a member of Delray Baptist Church, retired as a teacher’s aide in Chattanooga and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. She especially adored her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick M. Layne; parents, Rexter and Manervie Street; sisters, Pearl Moffitt, Stella Will, Mae Davis and Laudia Hicks; and brothers, Carter, Finn, Dexter, Lee, Ralph and Clell Street.

She is survived by her daughter, Joann Lane, Hixson; sons, Darrell (Frankie) Bidwell, Marietta, Ga., and Michael Bidwell, Harrison; six grandchildren, Stacey Skinner, Kimberly Bishop, Mark Lane, Lindsay Simmons, Tambra Hickman and Steven Bidwell; ten great-grandchildren; special niece, Brenda Williams and several other nieces and nephews; and special caregiver, Peggy Carlisle.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, April 24, at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 25, at the funeral home with Reverend Chris Eaves officiating. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens South.

Memorial donations may be made to Cure Childhood Cancer or Delray Baptist Church.

Arrangements are by the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory, and Florist, 404 South Moore Road.
