James Albert Austin, 73, of Dalton, GA, passed away Monday, April 21, 2014 at Regency Park Health and Rehabilitation.
He was a member of Community Fellowship Ministries and a member of The Gospel Songbirds and The Traveling Echoes.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Silas, Sr. and Pauline Austin; three brothers, Silas, Jr., Jerry Russell and William Laverne Austin; and four sisters, Earnestine Southern, Olean Taylor, Martha Tibbs and Katie Louise Austin.
He is survived by his dear companion of 47 years, Annie Mae Hill; three sons, Johnathan (Michelle) Hill, Charles (Christine) Hill and Ted (Lisa) Hill; four sisters, Rosa Shanks, Virginia Barrett, Gussie Johnson and Margaret (Tim) Jackson; one brother, Terry (Mamie) Austin; 14 grandchildren; dear friend, Frank Knox; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Homegoing Service will be held Saturday, April 26, at 1 p.m. in the Chapel with Dr. Stephen Thomas, Bishop Bennie Tibbs, Dr. Nicky P. Starling, and other ministers officiating. Interment will be in Hopewell Cemetery.
His remains will lie in state at the funeral home on Friday, April 25 after 11 a.m.
