Opening Day for Oldest Area DYB Program

Everyone loves a parade, especially kids 12 and under excited that opening day of youth baseball is here.

Under sunny skies and perfect for a day at the ball park, the Lookout Mountain Dixie Youth Baseball program held its popular annual Opening Day parade Saturday at Senter Field and Johnson Field.

Dressed in their new colorful uniforms and armed with gloves and bats, the Lookout Mountain youngsters were ready to take the field and play ball.

The late Nick Senter was honored by Dixie Boys Baseball past president Ted Jones who announced that Senter has been inducted into the DBB hall of fame.

Harvey Senter of Sumter, S.C. was on hand to receive a hall of fame watch and proclamation in honor of his late uncle who was the driving force behind Dixie Youth Baseball (originally called Little Boys Basebal) first establishing leagues for Lookout Mountain, Cleveland, Rivermont and Rossville in the summer of 1959.

Local Tennis Teams Win State Titles

Three Chattanooga tennis teams claimed state championships Sunday in the USTA State Junior Team Tennis Championships at The Champions Club in Rivermont. 23-Year-Old Stabbed To Death Early Sunday Morning

A man was stabbed to death in Chattanooga early Sunday morning. At approximately 2:48 a.m., Chattanooga Police responded to 2525 6 th  Avenue Court for a person stabbed.  Officers located a 23-year-old suffering from a stab wound to his chest.  The victim was transported to a local hospital where he later died from his injury.  The victim’s information ... Man, 21, Arrested In Hidden Camera Case

An arrest has been made in a case in which a hidden camera was apparently placed in several local restrooms.
