Hats Off To The Cornbread Festival - And Response

Sunday, April 27, 2014

Where is the coverage of this great festival?  South Pittsburg does a tremendous job putting on this festival without liquor.  A cold beer would have been good though out in the sun for hours.  Lots of entertainment and tons of really good food.  All the proceeds go to good causes and not to some business.

Martha White, Lodge Cookware and people from all across the country cooked some great food.

My hat is off to the police department and their volunteers for controlling the traffic and keeping it moving.

OK, so why hasn't someone suggested the idea of Chattanooga hosting an event in honor of the quintessential Southern comfort food -- pimento cheese?  Pimento cheese mania has been sweeping the country, and it's about time for an annual festival and competition.

Something tells me that a National Pimento Cheese Fest would become a huge tourist draw, not unlike the National Cornbread Festival. Tourist dollars, tax receipts, national media coverage -- I don't see how it can miss.  If beautiful South Pittsburg can do it with cornbread, the Scenic City can do it with pimento cheese.  How about it, Dixie Fuller, CVB and friends?
