Murder charges against Demetrius Bibbs for the homicide of Ronald Blackmon Jr. were dropped on Tuesday morning in the courtroom of Judge Rebecca Stern. His co-defendant, Edward Ryals Jr., recently pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and was sentenced to 18 years in prison.
According to thepolice, Bibbs and Ryals were in a car with one other man when Ryals shot the victim in the head. Mr. Blackmon later died at Erlanger Hospital.
The police said the incident was gang-related, and various witnesses said Bibbs was a member of the Black P Stone Bloods.
While he was released on bond for the first shooting, Bibbs was charged with another shooting that took place outside the Boys and Girls Club in 2012. He pleaded guilty to reckless endangerment and was sentenced to two years in prison.
