Police arrested a man for public intoxication and impeding the flow of traffic when he was found drunk and staggering in the middle of Highway 153 with a half-empty jar of moonshine on April 18.

A concerned driver called police when she noticed him stumbling around in the middle of the busy highway, she almost hit him with her car.

By the time police arrived, the man was still staggering into lanes of traffic.

When police made contact, they said the man tried to explain where he was going but his speech was slurred.

He also smelled of alcohol.

When police asked if he had been drinking, the man said he had. He also kept reaching into his pocket, at which point police decided to pat him down.

At that point, the man said, "Search me!" When they did, police found the half-empty jar of "Ol' Smokey" Moonshine in his pant pocket.

Because police said he was a danger to himself, he was arrested and taken to jail.
