A Chattanooga man and woman have both been charged with aggravated burglary and theft over $500 after police say they stole a toolbox, a Civil War era cannonball, and some jewelry from the home of an incarcerated man, James Sexton.
His ex-wife, who is also power of attorney over his property, called police and reported the burglary. She told police she received a call from an unknown caller telling her the stolen items could be found at an address on Lightfoot Mill Road.
When police went to this location, they saw a man named Chad Thompson exiting the residence there. After they spoke with him, he admitted he and a woman identified as Heather Ratcliff had taken the items.
As soon as police attempted to arrest Thompson, he began to flee on foot. However, he was caught a short time after. Ms. Ratcliff was arrested without incident.
Bail for each was set at $10,000.
