Two new restaurants are opening in Chattanooga.
Firebirds Wood Fired Grill at 2115 Gunbarrel Road will be the 31st location for the chain. It specializes in butchering its own meats, said Scott Lackman, representing the business.
It opens Monday.
The 7,976-square-foot restaurant features an exhibition kitchen, an indoor stone fireplace, an outdoor patio and its own "firebar" that includes a waterfall display of colorful bottles.
"Firebirds’ signature wood fired-grilled entrees and the overall dining experience are a perfect fit for the clientele at Hamilton Place,” said Hamilton Place General Manager Dan Wolfe. “By combining the local flavor of the Tennessee firewood with their own unique dining experience, Firebirds is a breath of fresh air for Chattanooga.”
Firebirds is open Monday–Thursday from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. and Friday–Saturday from 11 a.m.–11 p.m. Guests can enjoy half priced appetizers and drink specials from 4–6:30 p.m. at the bar and at the outdoor patio. The restaurant also offers banquet services, catering and gift cards. In addition, guests can register for Firebirds’ E-Club to receive exclusive offers, promotions and a birthday gift.
Other Tennessee locations are Memphis and Collierville.
The Macho Taco at 811 Market St., former location of Fork and Pie, is a restaurant that will serve Mexican food with a fast food concept. It will offer either sit down or take-out meals. Along with beer it will offer margaritas and mojitos. The license application approved by the city beer board will allow the business to also sell consumer or carry-out beer that is sealed in six packs.
Sharon Kelly, owner of Mocha Restaurant and Music Lounge at 511 Broad St., has been in business downtown with two partners since April, 2013. Going forward, the business will be operated only by Ms. Kelly and her daughter so a new beer license was needed to remove the names of the other partners.
Nightfall Series 2014 was issued a beer permit for 18 weeks beginning Friday night and running through Aug. 29, for the free Friday night music concerts at Miller Plaza. Carla Pritchard told the board that this will be the 26th year for the concerts. This year the organizers, Chattanooga Presents, will augment security by adding more at the point of beer sales. As in previous years, the concerts will each consist of a local act opening for a headliner.
