Review for the Moon:
The Moon is what happens when two first rate free-jazz musicians indulge their obsessions with late-60’s psychedelic sounds, noise-based improvisation and 20th-century classical abstraction.
Adam Caine (guitar) and Federico Ughi (drums) are both veterans of the New York City jazz scene, both having led bands and released numerous albums on their own. The cohesive, highly dynamic sound of The Moon has developed through extensive touring: they exhibit a willingness to ‘get in the van’ unusual for Brooklyn-based jazz groups.
In 2013 they toured with New York free-jazz legend Daniel Carter as special guest, and in early 2014 they traveled to Tangier to play with masters of traditional Moroccan Gnawa music.
