Backroom Politics At The County Commission - And Response (2)

Monday, May 19, 2014

I just read the article were Rhonda Thurman is going to do a write in campaign for District 1 commissioner seat Fred Skillern just lost to Randy Fairbanks. This is a perfect example of the backroom politics that goes on at the County Commission.

Mr. Skillern still wants to be able to control things on the commission from his business in Soddy Daisy.

I hope the people of District 1 are smart enough to see this and not let it happen. I voted for Mr. Fairbanks because we needed a change and new ideals, not the same old politics.

Mr. Blair is correct about the thirst for power at the courthouse and Rhonda Thurman’s write in campaign.  I used to really like Rhonda but with the obviously power grab by her because she did not get her way is too much.  It was obvious that she expected Mr. Skillern to win one more term and then she could run in four years.   Her attitude is that you can’t do this to me much like a three year old wanting everything on the playground.  It’s mine attitude.

I believe that the people in Soddy Daisy will see through this smokescreen and see that Mr. Fairbanks will represent all of the people and not just the power hungry Rhonda Thurman.

I only have one other question, how does this story justify the front page of our newspaper when other great stories get put on the third page of the Metro section on the bottom.  Could it be they are part of the power grab?

If Rhonda wanted to run for county commissioner in District 1, why didn't she run in the primary.  Does she not like who the people chose?

It's everyone's right to run, but they should go about it the right way.  This sounds like a struggle to keep the power and that is exactly what the people voted against.

The people in District 1 have their choice on who they want to serve them for the next four years.  Sometimes that is hard to accept.

California Governor Not Half The Man His Father Was

Governor Brown should send the California Highway Patrol to Berkeley and ensure that speech is unimpeded.     That is what his father, Edmund D. Pat Brown, did in the early 1960s, and the rioters were stopped and university property protected.   Too bad that this Governor Brown is not half the man his father was. John L.
