Mullis, Tarvin Win Election; Deffenbaugh In Runoff Against Goff

Georgia District 53 State Senator Jeff Mullis won over challenger Tom Dooley with 68 percent of the vote in Tuesday's election. He had 7,004 to 3,219 for Mr. Dooley.

State Rep. John Deffenbaugh of Lookout Mountain was ahead in District 1, but he races a runoff. Rep. Deffenbaugh wound up with 45 percent of the vote. He will go against Robert Goff, who barely finished second ahead of Alan Painter. It was Deffenbaugh 1,519, Goff 941 and Painter 915.

 Tom McMahan will be the Democratic candidate. He got 557 votes

State Rep. Steve Tarvin of Chickamauga won in District 2 with over 65 percent of the vote. It was Tarvin 2,661, L.E. "Ebeth" Edwards 972 and Rebecca Ann Brown 406 in the Republican primary..
