Landfill, Convenience Centers To Be Closed Monday In Observance Of Memorial Day

Four Dalton-Whitfield Solid Waste Authority facilities will be closed on Monday in observance of Memorial Day.  Locations include the Old Dixie Landfill & Convenience Center, McGaughey Chapel Convenience Center, Westside Convenience Center, and the M.L. King Convenience Center.

Saturday, May 24 - All Locations Open - Normal Hours (7 a.

m. – 3 p.m.)

Monday, May 26  – All Locations Closed

Tuesday, May 27  – All Locations Open (7 a.m. – 6 p.m.)   (Westside Normally Closed)

Wednesday, May 28  – Resume Normal Operating Days and Hours (McGaughey Chapel Closed)






U.S. 27 North Reduced To 1 Lane On Monday For Paving

As part of the U.S. 27 reconstruction project, the contractor will be paving on U.S. 27 North on Monday from the Olgiati Bridge to Signal Mtn. Rd.  During paving operations, U.S. 27 will be reduced to one lane on U.S. 27 North until the work is complete, which should be later today.  Congestion is expected, and motorists are urged to be patient and use caution. Grote Hall At UTC Campus Closed Due To Sinkhole

A sinkhole has prompted UTC officials to close off access to Grote Hall. Grote Hall employees have been told they do not need to report to work on Monday. Classes that are held in Grote Hall are called off for Monday. All other classes and campus activities are on for Monday. (click for more)

Bradley County Police Investigating Shooting; Victim Dies

The Bradley County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that occurred in the area of Georgetown Road. The sheriff's office said Sunday night that the victim had died.
