A Soddy Daisy woman has been charged with assault after witnesses say she lunged at and bit another woman outside of Rumors Lounge on Hixson Pike on Saturday.

According to police, a bartender was trying to get 55-year-old Cathy Laymon Olivas to leave the premises and another woman stepped in to help.

Police were called after the attack. Witnesses also said Ms. Olivas was screaming and cursing.

Police said they tried to calm her down and get her side of the story, but they said she would not stop yelling even after the arrest.

In addition to assault, Ms. Olivas was also charged with public intoxication and disorderly conduct.

Bond was set at $2,000.
