Booker T. Washington Park Pool Will Be Delayed In Opening

  • Wednesday, May 21, 2014

Due to major maintenance issues and a lack of lifeguard staffing, the Olympic-sized public pool at Booker T. Washington State Park will not open this Saturday, as had previously been scheduled. The wading/kiddie pool will not open during the 2014 Summer Season.

Park management announces that the swimming pool at Booker T. Washington State Park will be delayed in opening for the 2014 summer season after a major leak was detected. The pool is usually open Memorial Day weekend but management made the decision to close after the leak was found earlier in the week. We are extremely disappointed to not open the pool for our visitors.  We hope guests will continue to visit and take advantage of Booker T. Washington’s many amenities. The park will still be open for other outdoor activities like, mountain biking, fishing, hiking, canoeing, basketball, volleyball, archery, and cookouts.

Park staff will make every effort to get the pool ready to safely open by late June.
