Hixson, East Ridge Win In 6-A/AA Soccer Semifinals

The Hixson Wilcats advanced to the District 6A/AA championship game on Tuesday with a 2-0 win over Tyner. 

Cameron Rigler scored in the first half for Hixson and Spencer Groves had the second half goal. 

Rigler and Kevin Diaz had assists the goals.  Riley Duke had 11 saves for Hixson.

 Hixson advances to play East Ridge in the District 6A/AA championship game Thursday at 8 p.m. at Camp Jordan. 

 EAST RIDGE 5 RED BANK 2 Tad Whitaker scored all five of East Ridge's goals in their 5-2 win over Red Bank.  East Ridge trailed 2-1 at the half.  Shelvin Orozo and Otto Gomez scored Red Bank's goals.  

Rasim Kazic had two assists for East Ridge.  John Mwamba, Dee Sylla and Kolbe King also had assists for East Ridge.

Signal Mountain Volleyball 3-1 Over GPS

The Signal Mountain volleyball team held off the visiting Bruisers 3-1 Wednesday evening. Signal Mountain opened with a 25-19 win, but allowed GPS to take the second set 25-20. The 22-year-old charged with a rampage through Westview Elementary School is under treatment at Moccasin Bend Psychiatric Hospital, officials said.
