Alexian Celebrates 75 Years And Grand Opening Of Alexian Health And Rehabilitation Center

Thursday, May 8, 2014
Officials said the transformation of Alexian Village of Tennessee will benefit everyone in Chattanooga. The $23 million expansion of the new Health and Rehabilitation Center includes 100,000 square feet of progressive design for rehabilitation and skilled nursing. Persons needing outpatient, physical, occupational or speech therapy will have access to the center’s high quality of care. The new health care center has been and will continue to be an economic boom to Chattanooga, adding new jobs and business partners.

The new “Person-Centered Care” health and rehabilitation center is the first and only center in Chattanooga built and designed with neighborhoods specifically for the delivery of a new model of care for the aging population. “Person-Centered Care” simply means that residents are allowed to maintain control over their day-to-day routines and direct their lives as closely to the way they did in their own homes. The new center has seven individual neighborhoods with 19 private rooms.

Each neighborhood has its own living room including a fireplace, dining room, parlor and sun room. The cozy neighborhood dining rooms are all comprised of accessible kitchens to accommodate resident preferences and choice in addition to behind the scenes work areas for care and service providers. The center also houses a dedicated assisted living memory care neighborhood.

Officials said, "For nearly 80 years, the Alexian Brothers have served and cared for others. The same beliefs that inspired the founders of this ministry sustain its organization today. The Alexian Brothers mission is put into action by the commitment to promote the physical, mental, spiritual and social well-being of all individuals served through their ten local ministries. Through this commitment, Alexian Brothers Senior Ministries has come to be recognized as the area’s leading innovator in the coordination and delivery of comprehensive services to older adults."

Alexian Brothers Senior Ministries is comprised of 10 Chattanooga area ministries: Alexian Village of Tennessee, Alexian Grove, Alexian Brothers Live At Home Program, Lone Oak Free Health and Dental Clinic, Alexian Inn, Alexian Brothers Valley Residence, Alexian Brothers Health Care Center, Alexian Brothers Home Care and Alexian Brothers PACE Program.
