Erlanger Offers Classes And Events For June 16-21

Erlanger now offers online childbirth education class.  The online class is an easy-to-understand interactive program that includes more than 70 videos, animated illustrations, downloadable PDF files, review quizzes and information specific to Erlanger East and Erlanger Baroness birthing services.  By choosing the online childbirth program, participants will have access to all the information for six months.  The cost for the courses is $25.

Monday, June 16

Infant CPR Class

10:00 – 11:15 a.m.

Erlanger East (Gunbarrel Road)

This one-hour class teaches basic CPR for an infant (birth to 1 year of age).  Class time includes infant safety instructions and hands-on practice of CPR and choking management techniques for an infant.  Anyone is welcome to take this class including parents, grandparents and babysitters.  Registration fee is $25.  Call Erlanger’s HealthLink at 778-LINK (5465) to register. 

 

Bariatric Support Group

5:30 – 6:30 p.m.

Erlanger Chattanooga Lifestyle Center

Bariatric Support Group meetings are for individuals scheduled to have Bariatric surgery or who have already had weight loss surgery.  Call Erlanger’s HealthLink at (423) 778-LINK (5465) for more information.

 

Diabetes Education Class

1:30 – 4:30 p.m.

Erlanger Chattanooga Lifestyle Center

This class will explore ways to manage diabetes.  Call 778-9400 for more information on physician referral and insurance reimbursement.

Breastfeeding

6:30 - 9:00 p.m.

Erlanger Baroness (Downtown)

This class is designed to help participants make an informed choice about breastfeeding.  Learn breastfeeding basics, what to expect the first few weeks and special tips for success.  Concerns about returning to work/school will also be discussed.  This course is coordinated by a board-certified lactation consultant.  Registration fee is $30.  Call Erlanger’s HealthLink at 778-LINK (5465) to register.

 

Saturday, June 21

Boot Camp for Dads

9:00 a.m. – Noon

Erlanger East (Gunbarrel Road)

This session is for first time dads who want to learn more about the upcoming new addition in their family.  Topics include diapering, feeding, why babies cry and how to handle it, how you can help the new mom, learn about postpartum depression and general hands-on infant care.  A new “veteran” dad is invited (along with his new baby) to the class for question and answer time.  Call Erlanger’s HealthLink at 778-LINK (5465) to register.


Mayor Berke’s Council On Disability Hosts ADA Celebration Wednesday

3 Hikers Missing In Big Soddy Creek Gulf Area Are Found Safe

Three hikers missing since Sunday afternoon at Big Soddy Creek Gulf have been found safe. They left around noon, and were supposed to return around 6 p.m. The hikers are a married couple and their friend. They are avid hikers. Pair Arrested In Connection With Lookout Mountain Vehicle Thefts, Break-Ins

Police on Lookout Mountain said two arrests have been made tied to the theft of  two vehicles stolen from a home in Lookout Mountain, Ga., last week.   In connection to the vehicle thefts, seven other vehicles were entered and several items were stolen.
