Webb, Bartlett Lead Tennessee Net Winners

Tenn. Claims 45s in Senior Cup

UTC All-Americans Sue Webb and Sue Bartlett and Ole Miss hall of famer Fran Chandler combined to win the Senior Cup Women's 45s for Team Tennessee this past weekend in Huntsville.

Tennessee defeated Georgia, 2-1 in the 45s finals as the Senior Cup had competitions in six age divisions for men and women.

Women's Overall Championship: Tennessee and South Carolina tied with 38 points.

Most Overall Points (men and women combined): Tennessee, 61 points

Most Individual Wins: Tennessee (53)

Other Chattanooga players included Carlos Garcia (45s), Mike Parker (55s), Clive Kileff (65s), Darrell McDonald (75s) and he captained the Tennessee men's teams. 

Results: Mens 45s (runner-up), Men's 55s (4th), Men's 65s (4th)

Five-Area Players Voted TSWA All-State In Baseball

Five Chattanooga-area players have been voted to the 2017 Tennessee Sports Writers Association all-state baseball teams. Making the team in Class AAA was Rhea County's Westin Ray. The Georgia Northwestern Lady Bobcats volleyball team and basketball team have picked up recruits from the Chattanooga area this season and the men’s basketball team recently decided to follow suit. Young Woman Suffers Serious Injuries In 30-Foot Fall At Quarry At Greenway Farms

A young woman was seriously injured on Wednesday night  when she fell approximately 30 feet from a bluff at the the Greenway Farms quarry in Hixson.   Some kayakers were paddling in the quarry shortly after  8 p.m. when they saw the woman fall to the ground below.
