on earning a spot on the CFPA Watch List," said CFPA Executive Director Brad Smith. "Williams will be one of the top Southern Conference players to watch this season."
Williams, a senior from Chattanooga, has played in 27 games with 11 starts in his career. He has 15 career rushing touchdowns and six career 100-yard games.
Williams was second in the Southern Conference with 98.1 rushing yards per game before suffering a leg injury on the opening kickoff against The Citadel. That ended his season, but he still amassed nine rushing TDs on the year.
He was the SoCon Offensive Player of the Week after posting 147 rushing yards and a TD on 20 carries at Georgia State. He made it back-to-back honors after 106 rushing yards and three TDs on 11 carries against Austin Peay.
The goal of College Football Performance Awards is to provide the most scientifically rigorous conferments in college football. Recipients are selected exclusively based upon objective scientific rankings of the extent to which individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams. Twenty-eight CFPA winners have been first-round NFL Draft selections.
Junior Jacob Huesman (QB) and senior Davis Tull (DE) are the two other Mocs who have also earned spots on the CFPA Watch Lists heading into 2014.
The Mocs kick off the 2014 season on the road at Central Michigan on Thursday, Aug. 28. Chattanooga’s first home game is set for Saturday, Sept. 6 against Jacksonville State. Season tickets are on sale now on GoMocs.com.
