Abel Carmona, 20, Shot And Killed At Dalton

The Dalton Police Department is investigating a homicide that happened shortly before midnight in the parking lot of 214 N. Easterling St.

At approximately 11:40 p.m. Wednesday, officers were dispatched to a report of gunshots fired in the parking lot. Responding officers found a man with a gunshot wound to the chest lying on the ground.

The victim was identified as 20-year-old Abel Carmona of 1408 Nolan Road in Dalton.

He was transported to Hamilton Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

At this time there is no suspect in custody. 

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation assisted with processing the scene.

Signal's Shoal Creek Bridge Called Worst In The County; To Be Replaced

A bridge at Signal Mountain crossing Shoal Creek that was built in 1975 as part of the subdivision has been labeled the worse in the county.   Signal Mountain officials said it has been inspected by TDOT and given a rating of 39.9 percent adequate. Chattanooga Advances To National Amateur Championship
