Fourth District Congressman Scott DesJarlais said Thursday he opposes a plan by Senator Bob Corker to raise the federal gasoline tax by 12 cents over two years to support highway infrastructure.
Rep. DesJarlais said, "As long as I am in the House of Representatives, I will oppose any effort to raise taxes. Washington does not have a revenue problem; it has a spending problem.
"While I understand the need for good roads, the answer is to prioritize spending – not increase taxes on Tennessee families.”
