Weekly Road Construction Report

Here is the weekly road construction report for Hamilton County:

U.S. 27 (SR-29) reconstruction project from Manufacturers Road (Olgiati Bridge over the Tennessee River) to U.S. 127 (SR-8, Signal Mountain Road/Boulevard):  Weather permitting, the contractor may have lane closures throughout the project area on weeknights to perform road work.  They will also be working on retaining walls and bridges throughout the project area.  During nighttime work, at least one lane will remain open in each direction.  THP will assist with traffic control on the project as necessary.  Estimated project completion date is February.  

SR-58 resurfacing from Lakewood Acres Road (LM. 9.20) to Greenwood Road (LM 14.68):  Work on this continues.  Milling and paving operations are limited to Sunday through Thursday nights between 7 p.m.-6 a.m.  There will be temporary lane closures as needed on this project.  At least one lane in each direction will remain open at all times.  Estimated completion date is July.  

Construction of a State Industrial Access route serving Volkswagen Group of America, including grading, drainage and paving:  Work on this project continues.  The contractor is in the process of clearing and taking care of environmental measures in order to start on road and drainage.  During this report period, there will be a lane closure on SR-58 North during non-peak hours to allow the contractor to work on the turn lane.  Estimated project completion date is September.

Judge Orders Cortez Sims Tried As Adult After Emotional Testimony At Juvenile Court In Shooting Of 4

Juvenile Court Judge Rob Philyaw on Thursday morning ordered that 17-year-old Cortez Sims be tried as an adult in a College Hill Courts shooting that left one woman dead, a toddler paralyzed, and two others wounded.
