Sue Webb Wins British Clay Courts Doubles Title

Former UTC tennis All-American Sue Webb teamed with Rosemary Dennis to win the Women's 50s British Open Clay Court Championships played last week in Bournemouth (SW England).

Seeded second, Webb and Dennis defeated the No.1 seeds Christine French-Pat Wire in the finals, 6-2, 6-4. French recently won the World 55s singles and 55s mixed doubles and the British Open Clay Court 55s singles.

The champions did not lose a set in three matches.

In the semifinals against, Alison Hannah-Taylor/Jenny Chin, the victors were down 4-1 in the opening set before winning 11 straight games and the match. Hannah-Taylor was the top seed in the 50s singles and beat No.2 Dennis in the 50s singles final.

Webb will compete in the Senior Cup in Huntsville this weekend.
