Ryan Does Have Class - And Response (2)

Re:  Roy Exum: Show Some Class, Ryan

Mr. Exum, I am in agreement with you most of the time, but I think you are truly off the mark on this one.  Rep. Paul  Ryan was expressing in a very articulate way (foreign to most of our congress today) the same outrage that Americans feel about this absolutely ridiculous story.  Agreed, Ryan is a very level headed individual, it is hard for me to be critical of a man who was illustrating the same outrage that most of us have about this situation, only he stopped short of yelling "just how stupid do you think we are?"

Your disappointment would be better directed to maybe Commissioner John Koskinen who seemed to sit through the entire hearing with a smug, arrogant, smirk on his face as if he were just too good to even be present (very much like the one your mother told you to wipe from your face when  being reprimanded as a child?)  Or maybe to the insane, untrue rants of Harry Reid or Nancy Pelosi who always make certain they are shielded in what they say from the protection of the Senate floor. Rep. Ryan was simply showing the same overload of emotion many people do when they yell at the sports referee when  they feel their team has been truly wronged.

There is room for much criticism toward those in our federal government, but the list is much longer and the offenses much greater than those of Rep. Ryan.  Thank God we still  have a few passionate, honest representatives who still understand how the average American feels and isn't afraid to show it.

Ryan was not very polite, but he was right. The "loss of the emails" is unbelievable. Emails are stored in multiple hard drives in multiple locations. He could even ask the NSA for copies if he really wanted to produce them. He and Lois Lerner should be jailed for contempt until they are produced.

I agree with Cynthia and John 100 percent.  While I usually sit here and shake my head in agreement with Roy this time he missed the call.
The IRS lords it over the common man.  Their agents have badges and guns and you're not really given an opportunity to explain when they've "determined" you're guilty of some stupid infraction.  With this department you're guilty until proven innocent and once they start on you it's a long hard climb clearing yourself.
I thought Ryan was extremely civil and polite considering what these thieves have done and what they're trying to hide.  I can only hope those they've harmed can hang on and take civil action against the strong-armed tactics of this governmental abuse center.  I think all Americans should send Ryan a thank you card for trying to speak for them (what a change that is in DC).

Petty County Tyrants - And Response (2)

Last week's County Commission meeting was quite a show. Ironically, the preacher giving the opening invocation asked that "truth may prevail" because that is the opposite of what happened. What we actually saw was bickering, verbal attacks, and a collapse of democratic discourse. It is typically not my approach to "attack" individuals, but as each commissioner made public statements, ... (click for more)

Enforce The Bond Forfeiture In Padgett Case

Now that Christopher Padgett  was taken into custody by the Chattanooga Police Department and checked back into the Hamilton County jail, I trust the judge will do no favors and enforce the forfeiture of Padgett's entire $350,000 bond. Padgett was accused of murder, he was granted $350,000 bond and he ran. Padgett was found guilty. A convicted murderer was ... (click for more)

2 Witnesses To A Murder Refuse To Testify At Jury Trial

Two men who prosecutors say witnessed a murder in Hixson on Jan. 31, 2014, on Wednesday refused to tell their story to a jury. Criminal Court Judge Barry Steelman ordered Andrew Biro and Jacob Tyler "T.Y." Keel to answer questions from prosecutor Lance Pope, but they both refused. Biro had said during testimony in General Sessions Court that Christopher Levi Parker threatened ... (click for more)

Randy Smith: Mocs Hoops Looking For Huge Season

In the midst of what is an exciting college football season, I thought we might talk some college hoops as the Chattanooga Mocs are gearing up for what could be an amazing 2016-2017 season. Coach Matt McCall returns practically every starter from last year's squad that won the SoCon regular season and tournament titles as well as a school record 29 wins. The Mocs scored wins at ...
