David Jason Goode, 29, was taken into custody tonight approximately 200 yards from the Bradley County Sheriff's Office mobile command post that had been stationed at Michigan Avenue Elementary School.

Goode knocked on the door of a home on Howard Road.

When the homeowner answered he recognized Goode from media reports as the person the Bradley County Sheriff's Office was searching for.  A warning shot was fired and the suspect detained for deputies who arrived within minutes.

Howard Road is about a mile from where Goode fled into the woods Sunday afternoon and within the perimeter established for the search.

Goode received scratches and cuts from going through woods and was taken to the hospital to be checked out before release to the Bradley County jail.

Goode has been charged with capias - failure to appear, violation of probation, failure to appear, theft over $1,000, and two counts of aggravated assault.

Goode had an encounter with the Bradley County Sheriff's Office on Thursday that resulted in warrants being issued for two counts of aggravated assault.

He went to a residence on Benton Pike Sunday afternoon but left before deputies arrived.  He returned to the location after the deputies departed and fled on foot into a wooded area.

The Bradley County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team was in the woods on a manhunt.
