Hines Arrested In Theft Of Proceeds From Bessie Smith Strut

Chattanooga Police have identified the suspect involved in the Bessie Smith Hall burglary from June 10 as an employee of the facility.

Police said Torrey Lamar Hines turned himself in to the Police Department earlier Monday and confessed to investigators his involvement. 

Hines will be charged with burglary, vandalism and theft over $50,000.

Officials said the proceeds from the Bessie Smith Strut were stolen the night of the event.
