Twenty two McCallie School students were inducted recently by the Signal Mountain Lions Club to form a new LEO Club at the school.
LEO Clubs are a youth organization of Lions Clubs International. LEO stands for Leadership, Experience and Opportunity. Members develop leadership qualities through service activities in the fields of health care, elderly care, children, literacy and education and self-development.
“LEO Clubs provide the youth of the world with an opportunity for development and contribution, individually and collectively, as responsible members of the local, national and international community,” says the Lions Clubs International website.
Officers for McCallie’s LEO Club include: junior Ryan McGregor, president; junior James Whatley, vice president; junior Eli Lemkin, treasurer; and sophomore William McGregor, secretary.
Faculty sponsors are Tom Herring, Middle School world history teacher, and Jesse Teague ’00, Upper School Spanish teacher.
