Chattanooga Railroad Series: Across Amnicola Highway (Third Line)

Thursday, June 26, 2014 - by John Wilson

Three railroad lines were built across Amnicola Highway from the nearby DeButts Yard.

The third line, which is the only one of the three on the north side of South Chickamauga Creek, crosses the highway near the north entrance to the Tennessee Riverpark. It passes near the U.S. Naval Reserve, then crosses the south entrance to the Riverpark.

There is a gate near this crossing that is kept closed except when runs are made to pick up tankers at the nearby BASF plant.

This line crosses South Creek Road soon after leaving the DeButts Yard.
