Man Shot And Killed In Rental Car Near Brainerd Freeway Was Cedric Mikes

A man who was shot and killed in a rental car near the I-24 freeway in Brainerd early Wednesday morning has been identified as 32-year-old Cedric Mikes.

Police initially responded to what was believed to be an accident at South Terrace and Moore Road shortly after 2 a.m..

The rental car was down an embankment.

A black male who had been shot and killed was found inside.

The driver's side window was broken and there was blood on the door.

Chattanooga Police ask anyone with information regarding this crime to call 423-698-2525.




Fire Destroys Vacant House On Kelly's Ferry Road

No injuries were reported in connection with a vacant house fire early Wednesday morning in Lookout Valley. The Chattanooga Fire Department received the alarm at  4:37 a.m.  and responded to 3602 Kelly's Ferry Road with five fire companies.
