Charles James King Gunned Down In Vehicle On Bennett Avenue In Another Overnight Killing

A man was shot and killed in a vehicle on Bennett Avenue on Wednesday night.

It marked the second day in a row that a black male was gunned down in a vehicle overnight.

The Bennett Avenue victim was identified as Charles James King.

At approximately 10:06 p.m., Chattanooga Police responded to shots fired in the area of 1400 Bennett Ave.  Upon arrival, officers located a black male inside a vehicle suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. 

The victim was pronounced deceased on the scene.  At this time, police have no suspect information and ask anyone with information regarding this crime to please call 423-698-2525

King, 41, had a number of arrests, including for assault and drugs.  

Cedric Mikes was the earlier victim, who was found in a rental car that appeared to have wrecked at South Terrace and Moore Road near I-24.
