ACT-SO Showcase And Fundraiser Set For Saturday

  • Thursday, June 26, 2014

Chattanooga ACT-SO will hold their 4th Annual Fundraiser on Saturday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the OBC Kingdom Center.  The fundraiser will feature poets, singers, speakers, artists, musicians and more.

Ticket prices are $15.  Act-So is still seeking sponsorships for the upcoming  National Competition to be held in Las Vegas in July.

Chattanooga ACT-SO held their 12th Annual Competition and Awards Ceremony in April. The NAACP's Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics is a yearlong achievement program designed to recruit, stimulate, and encourage high academic achievement among African-American high school students, and includes 26 categories of competition. Since it's inception, over a quarter of a million students have participated in ACT-SO related events.

As a result of this year's competition, seven students were awarded gold medals and  will represent Chattanooga-ACT-SO at the National ACT-SO Competition which will be held in Las Vegas. In the past seven years, Chattanooga ACT-SO has won five national medals at the National Competition.
