Chassie Louise Renner Hannah, 91, of Cleveland, TN, passed away at her home on Friday morning, June 27, 2014.
Mrs. Hannah was born in Greene County, TN on August 23, 1922 to William Andrew and Louisa Lehann Bible. In 1925 at the age of two she moved to Bradley County with her family and settled in the Flint Springs farming community where she spent the entirety of her life.
She was a member of the Flint Springs Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she served as Sunday school teacher and vacation bible school teacher. A masterful gardener, her flower gardens were for many years a traffic stopper on Dalton Pike. Gardens throughout Bradley County and the surrounding area today boast many beautiful things that she graciously shared with friends, family and strangers alike. She was especially fond of Irises and Daylilies.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 61 years, William Sloan Hannah; brothers, Paul Renner, Marvin Renner, Archie Renner and Oscar Renner; sisters, Clara Bennett, Dorothy McCoy, Sue Ada Clabo and Willie Ruth May; and great-grandson, Gabriel Stewart.
She is survived by her children, Janice Parker and her husband Gary and Hugh Hannah and wife Pam; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Amy Dean Pinckard, of Cleveland; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 29, in the chapel of Grissom- Serenity Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Flint Springs Cemetery with her grandsons, Ashley Senters and Andy Senters, great-grandsons, Jordan Belcher, Landon Senters and Brent Senters, and great grandson-in-law, Ryan Boling serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, June 29, at Grissom- Serenity Funeral Home, who has charge of the arrangements.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the Flint Springs Church, 517 Mitchell Road, SE, Cleveland, TN 37323.
