Friday, June 6, 2014

A daughter of General Sessions Court Judge Gary Starnes suffered serious injuries when she was hit by a powerful wave during a Gulf Coast vacation.

Judge Starnes, who was vacationing with his family, asked for prayer on his Facebook account.

He said the family "was having a great time on our last day" at the beach when the frightening incident happened to his daughter, Leslie.

She was rescued by her husband, who said he had to fight to get her to shore.

Judge Starnes said the wave "threw her around like a rag doll."

He said she had a broken femur in her left leg and also tendon and meniscus damage.

She was being brought back to Chattanooga for surgery early next week.
