Susan Levi
Susan Love Levi, of Soddy Daisy, died on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 after a hard-fought courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, surrounded by her loving family.
Susan was a graduate of Red Bank High School and Highland Beauty Academy. She attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville where she was a Kappa Sigma little sister. Susan was a member of Dallas Bay Baptist Church and prior to her illness was a member of the choir. She worked as the closing clerk in the office of U. S. Bankruptcy Trustee, Kenneth Still for over 20 years.
She was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Herschel K. Love, Sr., of Chattanooga and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Herschel Smith of Murfreesboro, Tn. Also preceding her in death were her father, Herschel K. Love, Jr. and a beloved nephew, Slade Snodgrass.
Serving as pallbearers will be Calvin Doolittle, Chad Love, Blake Rawlston, Randy Rawlston, Ryan Scanlan and Brian Arnold. Honorary pallbearers are Jack Love, Joshua Love and Roy Everett.
Susan loved deeply and her love touched the lives of all her survivors. She was a wise mentor and devoted mother to daughter, Shanna Levi of Chattanooga. She was a companion and confidant to her beloved siblings, sister, Janet Love Rawlston (Randy) of Truro, Nova Scotia and brother, Jack K. Love (Debra) of Chattanooga. She was a loving devoted daughter to her mother, Elizabeth Love Everett (Roy) of Hixson and was a fun to be with companion to beloved nephews and cousins.
Susan loved nature; its mountains, its streams, its sunny beaches; she loved nature's creator Jesus Christ. She loved birds, horses and her cat, Mercy. She loved cherry slushes, chocolate turtles, chicken and dumplings, peach tea and caramel pie. Susan loved the scenic bike rides with her childhood sweetheart, Calvin Doolittle; she loved girly sleep overs with her friends, the Ya-Ya’s. Imaginative and creative, she had a flair for decorating and fashion and always had an on-going project to beautify her world. She valued Beauty and Art and above all – Truth. Truth governed her life – as did the source of all Truth.
The family would like to thank the host of friends who shared Susan’s journey with prayers, food, money, care-giving, assistance, flowers, letters and cards offering hope and encouragement. Special gratitude goes to two new friends who touched her life with compassion and support, Dorothy Williamson, oncology nurse with Memorial Hospital and Lora Baker, Hearth Hospice nurse, who though their acquaintance was brief, nevertheless became Susan’s fierce advocates and forever friends.
The family as asked that in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made to Hearth Hospice, 1800 Rossville Ave., Chattanooga.
A celebration of Susan’s life will be held at Chattanooga Funeral Home, North Chapel at 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, Tn. 37343 at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 3, with Vicki Love officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday. Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
