Homer L. Scates, 67, of Soddy-Daisy, passed away on Friday, July 18, 2014.
He was a lifelong resident of Soddy-Daisy and of the Christian faith. Homer served his country in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mable Grimes Scates; sister, Dean Scates; sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Johnny Hall, and brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Linda Scates.
Homer was a beloved husband, father and loving papa who meant the entire universe to his granddaughter. He was an inventor, a builder and a fixer. He fought the good fight, may he rest in peace.
Survivors include his loving wife of 46 years, Tootsie Scates; son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Dawn Scates; granddaughter, Lexie Scates; step grandson, Hunter White; niece, Stacey Hall Standifer and nephew, Patrick Hall.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, July 23, at 2:30 p.m. at National Cemetery with Minister Jerry Clements officiating. Visitation is Wednesday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
