Billie Merle Wimberly Vandiver, 74, of Ringgold, died on Tuesday, July 1, 2014.
Billie was raised in Florence, Al., and moved to the Ringgold area in 1977. She attended GraceWorks Church and was an avid University of Alabama Crimson Tide fan. Billie also enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves and N.A.S.C.A.R. She retired from Shaw Industries in 2002 after 40-plus years and was currently working for the Catoosa County Board of Education.
Billie was preceded in death by her parents, Colonel and Marie Duke Wimberly and first husband, William "Sonny" Hardeman.
She is survived by her children, Vicki (Jerry) Roach of Ringgold, Kim Godfrey of Chattanooga, Jeff Reid of Huntsville, Kelly Hardeman of Ringgold, Kyle (Molly) Reid of Huntsville and Freddy (Erica) Vandiver of Ringgold; sister, Debbie (Tony) Hyatt of Ringgold; brothers, Nelson (Helen) Wimberly of Huntsville and Terry Wimberly of Chattanooga; 11 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 5, in the funeral home chapel, with Reverend Bill Owens officiating. Interment will follow in Lakewood Memorial Gardens-South.
The family will receive friends from 1-9 p.m. on Thursday, July 3, and from 11 a.m. until the funeral on Saturday at the funeral home.
