Clean Water Demonstrations Held At Coolidge Park

Tennessee American Water and the city of Chattanooga co-hosted the Kentucky/Tennessee Water professionals conference at Coolidge Park.

The public event was held to promote awareness of what it takes to deliver clean water and what consumers can do to conserve and protect water.

Tennessee American Water employees volunteered at the People's Choice water taste contest.

Popcorn, sno-cones and tap water was served by student volunteers.

TVA was quite a hit with a fish tank that showed the ecosystem in area streams and rivers.

A volunteer showed in a microscopic what organisms are found in untreated water.

Woman, 25, Dies From Wreck On Barton Avenue

A 25-year-old woman has died from injuries received in a head-on accident on Barton Avenue in North Chattanooga on Saturday. The victim was Stephanie Kilburn . City Seeking Grant To Improve Signals At 32 Intersections

The city is seeking a $2 million federal grant to go along with $500,000 in city funds for a project to improve signals at 32 intersections. There would also be bike and pedestrian improvements. The routes include Brainerd Road, Lee Highway, Shallowford Road, Gunbarrel Road and Hamilton Place Boulevard. The application is for a Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Grant. (click for more)
