Bellydance FlashMob Set For Saturday

Monday, July 21, 2014

Chattanooga area bellydancers will be presenting a Bellydance FlashMob to celebrate National Dance Day on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. in the grass area at the corner of Chestnut Street and Riverside Drive.

The local dance and yoga studio, Movement Arts Collective, organized this event as way to highlight the growing bellydance community in the Chattanooga area, and to commemorate National Dance Day. Bellydance instructors and students from various troupes and studios will participate, including those from The Raqetts, Movement Arts Collective, Zanzibar Studio and Bellydance in the Park in Dalton. The FlashMob will also include several local hand drummers as accompanists.

The Bellydance Director of the Movement Arts Collective, Stacey Nolan, stated she plans to stage a Bellydance FlashMob every year on National Dance Day as a way to "bring together not only the Bellydance community, but the greater arts community, as a demonstration of how our city's artists are thriving and flourishing."
