Thomas James Davidson, 71, of Chattanooga, TN, died on Thursday July 24, 2014.

Tom graduated from South-Side High School and played college football for Western New Mexico University graduating with a Bachelors degree in Business.  He moved to Chattanooga, TN in 1969 with DelMonte Foods and in 1974 started Price-Rite Marking Systems with his brother John (Vicki) Davidson.  They were later joined by their siblings, Lawrence (Phyllis) Davidson, Richard (Carol) Davidson and Maryann (Harry) Davidson-Patterson.  His sister Ruth (Steve) Scherer-Sienkiel provided love and support from Pittsburgh.

Tom loved life and never met a stranger.  He was an avid tennis player, bowler, cyclist, hiker, dancer, singer and STEELERS fan.  He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church donating his time and talents to many Catholic charities and enjoyed pitching for the St. A’s softball team.  He was a long-time member of Manker-Patten and played doubles twice a week with his regular group; Corky Florek, Ron Huggins, Chip Allen, Bill Johnson, Jim Bach and Keith Wallace.  He was on the tennis team that won the Senior Chattanooga City Championship in 2004.  He biked across the state of Iowa in the Ragbrai at the ages of 61 and 62.  He placed 3rd in the Karen Lawrence Run in 2013 for his age group and taught us you can do anything at any age with any disability.  He will be missed by many friends and family.  A special thanks to dear friends Ron and Patti Huggins, Carolyn and Charlie Fox and Keith and Nyla Wallace.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Ruth and Harold Davidson; and his sister, Linda Davidson.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy K. Meier Davidson; his children, Courtney (Kipp) Julius, Morgan (Christy) Davidson-Hallinan; step-children, Jeffery (Christi) Meier, Joseph (Michelle) Meier, Jane Meier and James Meier; and his grandchildren, Jefferson Hunter Meier, Kylie Tate Julius, Thomas Chase Meier, and Madeline Hazel Meier.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in the name of Tom Davidson to the Community Kitchen and Metropolitan Ministries.

The family will receive friends from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday, July 27 at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, who has charge of the arrangements.
