Free Public Event National Night Out August 5

The Cleveland Police Department, along with the Boys and Girls Club, host National Night Out, Tuesday, August 5 from 5 - 8 p.m. The event will be hosted at the Boys and Girls Club Tucker Unit, 385 3rd St. SW.

National Night Out is designed to promote community crime prevention strategies to the public. Officers will share information on Neighborhood Watch, self-defense classes and other programs that the Cleveland Police Department offers. Child fingerprinting will be conducted by officers and inflatable toys will be available for recreation.

  Specialty units such as SWAT and the Explosive Ordnance Device Unit will be present for demos.

The Cleveland Fire Department will be showcasing their equipment and Franklin Academy will be providing the public with free haircuts and face painting. Hotdogs and drinks will be provided free of charge. All children who attend will be given goodie bags.




2nd Annual Geekster Show Comes To Cleveland Oct. 10

The second annual Geekster, a toy and comic show, will be held in Cleveland on October 10.  The Cleveland Geekster will feature over 35 vendors with 60 tables worth of comic books, vintage toys, and fun for the entire family. Hutcheson Medical Center Attorney Says Buyer Willing To Pay Over $20 Million For Fort Oglethorpe Hospital

An attorney for financially-strapped Hutcheson Medical Center told a bankruptcy court judge in Rome, Ga., on Wednesday afternoon that a buyer is willing to pay over $20 million for all the assets of the Fort Oglethorpe hospital. The Unsecured Creditors Committee of Hutcheson Medical Center is opposing a motion by U.S. Trustee Guy Gebhardt for a bankruptcy judge to dismiss the bankruptcy for the financially-ailing Fort Oglethorpe hospital.   Instead, the group is asking Judge Paul Bonapfel to appoint a trustee to oversee the Hutcheson finances.
