Blakely Takes Choo-Choo Golf Lead

Former Ooltewah High and Birmingham-Southern College standout Nick Blakely took the lead Tuesday in the Choo-Choo Invitational at Council Fire.

Blakely shot 4-under 68 Tuesday and heads into Wednesday's final round with a two-shot lead over Matthew Mahle and Ben Wolcott.

Chattanooga's Neil Spitalny leads the senior division after shooting 70 Tuesday. He stands at 3-under 141 heading into the final round and has a two-shot lead over first-round leader Chris Hall.

Chattanooga's Tom Baird, Mitch Hufstetler and Richard Keene are tied for third at 149.



Lee Tennis Teams Sweep Christian Brothers

The Lee University tennis teams swept visiting Christian Brothers University in a pair of Gulf South Conference matches Sunday afternoon at the DeVos Tennis Center. The men won 5-1, while the Lady Flames were 5-2 winners. The Flames (4-1, 1-1 GSC) held a 3-0 lead following doubles competition. Mocs Eighth At SoCon Indoor Track Championships

- University of Tennessee at Chattanooga junior Emily Poole and the women’s 4x400 meter relay team each scored on the final day to pull the Mocs ahead of UNCG for eighth in the Southern Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships at the VMI Corps Training Facility. Police Call Incident At Hamilton Place Mall "Aggravated Riot"; One Juvenile Injured During Stampede

Chattanooga Police are terming an incident at Hamilton Place Mall on Saturday night an "aggravated riot."   Police said there has been no confirmation that any shots were fired, but there was a stampede out of the mall after word spread of a gun incident.   One juvenile was injured and taken to the hospital during the panic and scramble from the mall.   ... Chattanooga Student Leaders Plan Action Against Gun Violence

Students from across Hamilton County gathered at 901 Lindsay St. on Sunday to discuss the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting and make plans to take action against gun violence.
