8600 Block East Brainerd Road Lane Closure

The westbound (inbound) lane of the 8600 block of East Brainerd Road will be closed for a water line repair project beginning Friday at 7 p.m.  The lane will be reopened on Saturday by 6 a.m.   

Westbound traffic will be detoured north on Morris Hill Road to west on Igou Gap Road, then south on Grays Road to Jenkins Road, and then back to East Brainerd Road.

Motorists are advised to use caution when approaching the intersection of East Brainerd Road, Hurricane Creek Road and Morris Hill Road, as there will be traffic pattern changes for all approaches to the intersection.

Whitfield County Landfill, Convenience Centers To Be Closed In Observance Of Independence Day

Four Dalton-Whitfield Solid Waste Authority facilities will be closed on Monday in observance of Independence Day.  Locations include the Old Dixie Landfill and Convenience Center, McGaughey Chapel Convenience Center, Westside Convenience Center, and the M.L. Clara Edwards Gets 20-Year Sentence In Death Of Foster Child In Catoosa County

A Catoosa County woman on Monday was sentenced to serve 20 years in prison in connection with the death of a foster child. Clara Louise Edwards entered a guilty plea to voluntary manslaughter as a lesser included offense of felony murder before Judge Ralph Van Pelt.
