Suns Edge Lookouts, 3-2, in 13 Innings

Teams Meet Sunday In Jacksonville at 3:05 P. M.

Sunday, July 06, 2014

The Lookouts saw their 2-0 evaporate in the bottom of the seventh and, with neither team scoring, the game went to extra innings. Jacksonville got the win when they pushed across the winning run in the bottom of the 13th.

After the first 10 batters were retired in order, in the fourth inning Chattanooga strung together three straight singles, with Daniel Mayora's two-run single breaking the scoreless deadlock and putting the Lookouts in front 2-0.

Terrence Dayleg (HR, 2) finally got the Suns on the board by leading off the bottom of the fifth inning with a homer to left, cutting the lead in half with Chattanooga still ahead 2-1.

Jacksonville tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the seventh inning, as Terrence Dayleg came around to score from first on a two-out RBI double from Austin Nola.

The game remained tied until the bottom of the 13th when the Suns had Alex Burg at the plate with Isaac Galloway on second base and Terrence Dayleg at first. Both runners were put in motion as Burg slapped a single through the right side, bringing Galloway in to score the game-winning run as Jacksonville emerged with a 3-2 victory.

Mike Thomas (L, 2-3) was saddled with the loss after giving up the game-winning run on one hit in 1.1 innings, while walking two batters and striking out three.
