UnifiEd To Host District 5 And 9 School Board Candidate Debates

UnifiEd and the North Brainerd Community Council will partner for a District 5 School Board candidate debate.

Candidates who have confirmed they will be in attendance are Richard Bennett, Samual Blackmore, Cynthia Stanley Cash, Patrick Hampton, Karitsa Mosley, Jackie Thomas and Yashika Ward.

The debate will be at Dalewood Middle School, 1300 Shallowford Road, Chattanooga, Tn. 37411, on July 10, from at 6-8 p.m.

There will also be a District 9 School Board candidate debate.

Candidates who have confirmed attendance are are Karen Farrow, Steve Highlander, Larry Lewis and Dean Moorhouse. District 9 County Commission Debate: candidates are Melinda Bone and Chester Bankston.

The debate will be at Ooltewah Elementary School, 8890 Snowy Owl Road, Ooltewah, TN 37363, on July 10, from 6-8 p.m.



Road And Utility Repair On Gunbarrel Road

The 2400 block of Gunbarrel Road, between Hamilton Run and Summertown Court, will be closed for road and utility repair beginning next Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. The project is scheduled for three weeks, reopening on Wednesday, Feb. 15.  Detours will be posted using Pinewood Drive, Jenkins Road. and Shallowford Road. 2 People Shot And Killed On 12th Street After 1 Car Chases Another; 1 Vehicle Crashes Near Willow Street

Two people were shot and killed in the 2100 block of E. 12th Street on Friday night in an incident in which one vehicle was chasing another. One of the vehicles crashed, landing on another car near Willow Street. Two people in the car that wrecked were dead when officers arrived. School Board Approves 4-Year Contract Extension With Independent Bus Drivers, Who Say They Can Handle 100 Routes; Extension Given On Custodial Contract

The county school board on Thursday night extended the contract by four years of school bus owner operators, who said they could deliver on 100 bus routes. The board delayed until a special meeting at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday at Central High School the issue of whether to accept the offer of 100 contract routes.
